"The myth of inner city youth as screw-ups...."

"The myth of inner city youth as screw-ups is so powerful that adults often dismiss these students before even listening to them."

The Teaching system

All you hear about now is how we, the youth, don't care about our education. It clearly shows in this video that we do care! These kids in this video are about 8-12 years of age and are speaking up for their education, but they are not hearing us. The ones that are pretending to want to help us, are treating our youth like animals. To snap at them like their dogs is uncalled for. They may think its "helping" us, but that i say it is cruelty and unnecessary. All i saw in the video is them hollering at the students, its not the way to go about it.

Focus of the Youth (movie)

I never knew kids as young as these kids think about their future in the manner that they do. They seem focused on what they inspire to be in life. That's good. It shows that our future generation has more of a positive outlook than what statistics say.

Why Attend School Anymore? (By Rose)

Nowadays, I really am beginning to hate school. It seems as though the harder I try to keep up and the more I work harder, I move up 3 steps to get knocked 15 steps back from where I started...

I have to work twice as hard because the school fucked up. I have to pick up the slack that they left behind..

The whites in power along with the upper class whites began to separate themselves to the suburbs while the blacks are left in the urban areas. This has caused a division, white and black, in New Orleans.
