Locating the problem, and fixing it

We look at race as an external feature (skin color). We think race descirbes our biology, and believe that our biology is based upon our physical features such as sports etc. That puts us in a place to think that ones race is better than the others, and deserves higher advantages, witch is presently controlling our schooling systems.
It sort of fits in with the term Glass Escalator, only with students, because if one student is of a certain race, he/she would have a better advantage of getting a higher education than one of the opposite race.

My schooling system would be one based upon equalization. Everyone would be taught the same materials and everyone would learn the same things, but there would be a dividng based upon the pace of everyones learning. If one group of students learn at a faster pace, they would be in a instution where they wont get bored, and as well as if there are a group of students whom learn at a slower pace they'll be in a instution where they wont get lost. At the end of the day, eveyone will be getting the same amout of education , just at diffrent styles and paces of learning.

  1. Hope,

Engaging students and working at a pace that allows for them not to fall behind is a very important element of effective teaching.

I think you're kind of right with the glass elevator analogy.

So you identified that there are problems with schooling and that these problems seem to be structured by race. Can you think why this is the case? Exactly what problems exist and why? Think in terms of institutions, and look at what it says in your book.

    Nice job.
